Joining Bain Capital Ventures as EIR

I’m excited to share that I've joined Bain Capital Ventures as an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR). Over the next six months, I’ll be focusing on early-stage investing and researching new ideas.

About 1.5 years ago, I became interested in stablecoins as new infrastructure to enable better fintech products. Through that exploration (which led to incubating a company with Mario Baxter Cabrera and collaborating with Liam Horne – more on that soon), I met Kevin Zhang and Ron Miasnik from Bain Capital Ventures - who had both been investing in crypto and were thinking about the same ideas. I was impressed by their thoughtfulness and eagerness to help, despite barely knowing me and having no real incentive to do so.

As an EIR, I’m excited to work more formally with Ron, Kevin, and the Bain Capital Ventures team (Christina, Ajay, Aaref, and many others) to invest in and explore new ideas. We’re at one of the most interesting moments in history. On one hand, we’re on the cusp of true sci-fi level developments in digital intelligence, human-like robots, genetic engineering, and space colonization. On the other, we struggle more than ever with basic problems like widespread loneliness, soaring costs of living, labor shortages, and crumbling physical infrastructure.

I’ll be researching ideas along these lines including:

  • Scaling solar energy
  • Humanoid robot infrastructure & applications
  • Automated manufacturing
  • AI-enabled consumer & professional services
  • Government efficiency enablement

If you’re thinking about any of these same areas or working on something new, I’d love to chat. My DMs are open and my email is ksaleh@baincapital.com.
